During the 21-23 of July 2019, Crown Prince Mohammed of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi paid a three-day official visit to China. After a series of talks, the leaders of China and of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) attended a number of ceremonies on bilateral/two-way cooperation and exchange. Amongst them was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Ma Jianfei, head of the Confucius Institute, and Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education of the UAE. This is an agreement between the Chinese Confucius Institute and the UAE Ministry of Education to integrate Chinese language learning into primary and secondary education curricula of the UAE. The ratification of this agreement is the first of its kind; the UAE is the first Arabic-speaking state to integrate Chinese into their national curriculum, which brings about a positive influence to the field of teaching Chinese in Arabic.

This is exciting and inspiring news for the entire community of industries teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It is worth mentioning that (the) BC Mandarin School has proudly been in close cooperation with the UAE Embassy in China since 2010, providing UAE students, staff and their family members stationed in China with Chinese language training.

In the course of these nine years of cooperation, BC Principal Hu Yeqing has been invited to numerous festivities and celebrations hosted by UAE communities. BC's UAE students are always in attendance, cordially welcoming guests from all over the world, wearing traditional costumes, introducing their culture, dietary habits, and their individual life and studying stories. The UAE host of several of these events, a former long-term BC student, presented in authentic and fluent Chinese, never ceasing to leave attendees awe-struck. In these nine years, many UAE students trained at the BC Mandarin School have assumed pivotal positions in the Ministries of Foreign affairs and of Commerce in their state. Due to their deep understanding of Chinese culture and China's societal development, and their ability to carry out negotiations in fluent Chinese, these students have been a tremendous impetus to the political, economic and cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Arab countries.

BC Mandarin School will continue disseminating and promoting Chinese civilization by means of language and culture, actively serving the extensive and long-term development policies on Chinese teaching between China and the UAE, to offer their contribution to the friendly China-UAE relations.
